Free Concert in Hart Auditorium July 20, 7PM-8PM
You are invited to a free public concert featuring an all-saxophone band, under the direction of Kathleen Maxwell. A variety of musical styles will be featured on this year’s program, including the Pachabel Canon and Gigue, Beethoven's Rondino and 2 short works by Bach.
For those who love more dramatic works, Rossini's Overture from "William Tell" and the beautiful "Agnus Dei" from Bizet's L'Arlesienne Suite, no.2, will be sure to please. Fresh arrangements portraying the foot stomping styles of American ragtime, Kentucky bluegrass, and even some well-known movie theme music, will surely delight the young and young at heart.
Saxtravaganza is made up of some of this area's finest saxophone students, adult hobbyists, teachers and professional players, who come together each year to mentor and to be mentored. Members will rehearse one week prior to this, our 9th, annual event. Remember to invite your friends to Saxtravaganza 2008.
