1939 John Wayne Classic "Stagecoach" Coming to "Flickers at the Junction"
The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society is proud to present John Ford's 1939 epic Western "Stagecoach" on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at DUSK, as part of the "Flickers at the Junction" film series. The film will be shown OUTDOORS (weather permitting) at the historic Saugus Train Station in Heritage Junction, Newhall. Suggested donation is $5, which includes free popcorn.
The SCVHS will be honoring Stagecoach's 70th anniversary as well as the 30th anniversary of the passing of John Wayne. Wayne, born Marion Morrison, had a decade's worth of films under his belt before Stagecoach made him a star which he remained until his death on June 11, 1979. Part of the movie was filmed locally at Newhall's Beale's Cut.
The Saugus Train Station is located at Heritage Junction (inside William S. Hart Park), at 24107 Newhall Avenue (formerly San Fernando Road), Newhall. Gates open at 7:00 PM and the film begins at dusk (around 8:00 PM). Please bring lawn chairs and blankets.
