WHY: Because Inquiring Minds Want To Know
    Hello? Is someone there?
Over the last few years, the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society has started fielding a lot of questions like, "Are these buildings haunted?" Our standard response has been to be a little evasive and change the subject as soon as possible. Psychics say this and that, you have to make your own conclusions about that and move on.
Pat Saletore: "I sometimes tell stories that I have heard or experienced, but mostly we have tried to avoid the subject. I hear things all the time that I chalk up to spending time in old buildings, my imagination or whatever. Every now and then, though, I find myself walking out to the main entrance calling ‘Hello? Is someone there?" — when there isn’t anyone there.
We were contacted several months ago by A.P.R.A., the American Paranormal Research Association (www.apraparanormal.com), based in Bakersfield. Up to this time, we have had little in the way of scientific investigation into our buildings paranormal possibilities. We invited the group to come and check our site out for unseen visitors. It turned out that they actually found things.
What kind of things? They found primarily EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena — recordings that are not heard by investigators, but recorded on electronic media like tape recorders or digital recorders) and audio recordings that were actually experienced by investigators. The really spooky thing is that some of them supported the stories we have been told by psychics who have been invited to visit!
APRA was so excited by their findings that we have agreed to co-sponsor an event on August 30th where participants would be treated to the following:
  • A discussion about ghost hunting procedures and equipment
  • Catered dinner
  • Ghost-hunting sessions in three buildings at Heritage Junction
  • A midnight snack
  • Sleepover in Saugus Train Station’s Freight Room
  • Continental Breakfast
  • DVD of evidence captured after review by APRA sent to each participant
The cost of this experience will be $185 per person, payable in advance, restricted to a maximum of 16 people. Participants will be advised about what to bring and specifics via phone after registration.
