Attention Silent Film Fans!
1925 Buster Keaton Classic Coming to "Flickers at the Junction"
The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society is proud to present silent funnyman Buster Keaton's classic "Go West," on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 7:30 PM at "Flickers at the Junction" (formerly "Friday Night Flickers"). The film will be shown in the historic Saugus Train Station in Heritage Junction, Newhall. Live accompaniment will be provided by 96-year-old Hollywood legend Bob Mitchell, the last of the silent era organists. Suggested donation is $5, which includes free popcorn!
Buster Keaton, "The Great Stoneface," made many of the most famous and lasting comedies of the silent era. In "Go West" Buster plays Friendless who comes west to seek his fortune. Once there, he tries his hand at bronco-busting, cattle wrangling, and dairy farming, while forming a friendship with a cow named "Brown Eyes." Eventually he finds himself leading a herd through downtown Los Angeles!
The Saugus Train Station is located at Heritage Junction, inside William S. Hart Park, at 24101 Newhall Avenue (formerly San Fernando Road) in Newhall. Gates open at 7:00 PM and seating is limited, so be sure to come early to see one of film's early silent superstars in action. (Program subject to change.)
