Hart School District announced the appointment of Ilona Pennay to the
position of Canyon High School Assistant Principal at the Governing
Board meeting Jan. 21. She will replace Jason d'Autremont, who was
promoted to principal at Canyon effective Dec. 22. Pennay will start as
Canyon Assistant Principal on Feb. 2.

Castaic Area Town Council held its annual organizational meeting
Wednesday, naming a new president and officers for the 10-person
advisory group. John Kunak, who was elected to represent Region 1
(Hillcrest, Live Oak, Northbluffs and Hasley Hills), was named

the MRCA took over Mentryville in 1995-96, it was agreed the buildings
were to be restored so the public could tour them and they would be
protected from the ravages of misuse and decay. Two decades later, we
are still waiting to get those tours started, and instead of preserving
the historic buildings, the MRCA is allowing them to be damaged by film

New Old Stuff: Aviatrix Found in Newhall |  William
S. Hart lived in Newhall, but in some respects his hilltop mansion was
in a different world. Hart was a major celebrity who quietly entertained
other major celebrities from Hollywood and beyond. Here, he's hanging
out with the legendary lost aviatrix Amelia Earhart at his Newhall
estate. You've probably seen this photograph if you've been upstairs in
the Hart mansion. If you haven't been there, it's well worth a visit.
