New Old Stuff: Newhall On the Move | We
reserve this space for "brand new" old stuff - stuff added to the
SCVHistory.com archive within the last 24 hours - so why are we showing
you a photo you might have seen before? Because it ties in with a "new"
newspaper article you haven't seen before. It discusses Newhall's
2.5-mile move from today's Kmart to the current site of Abe's Pawn Shop.
We knew all about that, or so we thought. The trouble is the date of
the article. It's from October 1878, which is several months after we
thought Newhall completed its move. In the article, the new buildings
are still under construction and the train depot hasn't moved yet. More
history books to rewrite. |
