1928 Dam Failure: A Vital Lesson for Today 
Around midnight on March 12, 1928, just days after its reservoir was full for the first time, the St. Francis Dam failed catastrophically. In what many consider the worst civil engineering disaster of the 20th century, the resulting flood wave rampaged for more than five hours through the night, destroying thousands of acres of farmland, ripping apart a thousand structures, and taking more than 400 lives.

William "Bill" Mulholland (1855-1935) a self-taught civil engineer, who at the zenith of his career was the highest paid public official in California and the most respected man in Los Angeles in 1926. His storied career came to an abrupt end with the catastrophic failure of the St. Francis Dam in March 1928.  READ REPORT

It was a unique take on "career day" for Bowman High School students: "Roadtrip Nation," an annual event for Bowman High, inspired by the award-winning PBS series "Roadtrip Nation," had the students themselves hosting and interviewing professionals.

The historic Rancho Camulos Museum will host its annual Artists' Day at the museum in Piru on Friday, April 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

for Cuesta College President
Four individuals, including two College of the Canyons administrators, have been selected as finalists for the position of Cuesta College superintendent/president.  
Larry Hurst 'Paintings and Collages' Gallery Talk
Former COC Gallery Director Larry Hurst gave a talk at the COC Art Gallery on March 1, which was in conjunction with his exhibition "Paintings and Collages" that runs through the end of March 2018.
