 City Officials Expect Election Answers By Tuesday The
polls are long closed in Santa Clarita's City Council election, and
city officials plan to tally the remaining results Tuesday, after proper
verifications are made. Unofficial
election results show a turnout of 14,870 voters, who cast 38,837 votes
- however, the results of the last 965 ballots are likely to decide the

New Old Stuff: Remembering a Saugus Pioneer
|  When
Ore and Anna Bercaw arrived in 1906, they doubled the number of
permanent families in Saugus to two. In 1908 they gave $100 (one-third
of the total construction cost) for the first Saugus School, and
according to Anna's newly rediscovered obituary, in 1914 they were the
first to give $100 toward construction of the original Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Newhall. They ran the Saugus general
store for 57 years.
