Op-Ed: Cemex Game Changer | Andrew G. Fried
Cemex
still needs to pursue and obtain entitlements from local, regional and
state agencies. We hope this precipitates a renewed discussion among the
public, who would be significantly affected by the mega-mine next door.
We hope the community becomes increasingly aware of the fact that the
mine is, by no means, a done deal. COMMENTARY |
Op-Ed: Back to Reality | Darryl Manzer
The
22nd annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival has come and gone. I thought
it was great. It seemed there was a lot more to do and see this year.
More shows and more places to see them. Stretching from The VU to
Heritage Junction, there was about a half-mile of attractions and
entertainment. COMMENTARY |
Op-Ed: Paid Volunteer? | Joe MessinaMichelle,
your role as first lady is to be an ambassador for America, not a slug
for America. Your husband is already getting paid more than he's worth.
Have him give you some of his money. COMMENTARY |

Blast from the Past: Aircraft Down
 Small
by today's standards, commercial airliners fell out of the sky with
seeming regularity in the 1930s, often because pilots misjudged the
peaks south of Newhall in the fog and snow. Yes, snow. That's the white
stuff on the ground in this photo of a probable survivor being
transported down the mountain, some 16 or so hours after the crash. It
took rescuers a while to find the plane. Five of the 13 people (a full
load) on board Western Air Express Flight 7 out of Salt Lake City
perished. How so many survived after being stranded for so long is a
wonder. |
