Alberta Platz was raring to go to school in 1921. She was finally old
enough. That's her on the running board with one of her sisters. Dad
would drive them from the ranch in Agua Dulce to the depot at Ravenna,
where they'd hop the train to Acton. Misbehaving in school was unheard
of. "If anyone gave an inclination of being unruly," Alberta said,
"they had not only to deal with the teacher and parents, but with the
other students who would shun them." Alberta Platz (later Bell) would
spend nearly her whole life in the Acton-Agua Dulce area. In 1988, she
sat down to tell the story of growing up here in the 1910s and '20s. |
