Canyon Country: A Family History A veteran of both World War II and Korea who went on to become director of instrucÂtional services at UC Santa Barbara, Richard F. Mitchell died in 2002 - but not before he completed 20 years of research into his family history. Born in 1919, Richard grew up in Soledad Canyon and attended Sulphur Springs School, where his mother was THE teacher. Richard's grandfather was Thomas F. Mitchell, the pioneer who settled in what is now Canyon Country in 1860. Thanks to their living descendants, the full story is publicly accessible for the first time. |
