Sheriff's deputies - one on Newhall Avenue at Carl Court, the other on
Magic Mountain Parkway at Avignon. |

Placerita: Center for the Study of Nature By the time the Placerita Canyon Nature Center opened in 1971 - actually the Nature Study
Center - a volunteer organization was already in place to run programs
and teach school kids about the native flora and fauna. In fact, those
same original volunteers, all members of the American Association of University Women,
were a driving force behind the center's creation. They even identified
the architect who was hired for the project, as well as a designer for
the museum displays.
