A Look Back: The 1959 Newhall Fourth of July Parade
We thought you might enjoy seeing the 1959 Newhall Fourth of July parade this morning before you head out to the 2016 edition. Watch for Lassie (near the beginÂning) and The Shaggy Dog (near the end). Their TV series and 1959 motion picture, respectively, were filmed down the road at The Walt Disney Co.'s Golden Oak Ranch in Placerita Canyon. Today's parade starts at 9 a.m. in the same place as the 1959 parade, in Old Town Newhall on Main Street. And once again this year, The Walt Disney Co. is a parade sponsor.
