Blast from the Past: Firmly Rooted in SCV Judging from the new (to us) old photographs, Fred and Frances Cooke
led a lifestyle that wasn't outwardly different from the rest of the
population of the Newhall-Saugus-Castaic area during the Great
Depression and afterward into the 1940s. What set them apart was that
their family was (and is) one of the families that was already living in
the Santa Clarita Valley when the first Europeans laid eyes on it in
1769. Everybody else was an immigrant. |
