A newborn baby girl came into the world and into the hands of a surprised deputy sheriff in a Santa Clarita Valley car wash parking lot Wednesday morning.  The excited father stood side-by-side with the deputy as his daughter made her unexpected arrival.

In Santa Clarita prep football action over the weekend, the Hart Indians defeated Downey High School, 38-14. Hart junior quarterback Nick Moore led the way, accounting for four total touchdowns (2 rush, 2 pass) as the Indians opened the season 1-0. Up next for Hart is a road test at Paraclete (Lancaster, CA) Thursday, September 10th at 7 pm. The game is at Antelope Valley College. READ STORY
Hart District Students Test Ahead of County, State
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress results have been released by the California Department of Education and the William S. Hart Union High School District has scored better than the state and county average. READ STORY
Newhall District Kids Ace New Standardized Test
The Newhall School District outperformed all of the school districts in the Santa Clarita Valley at every grade tested level and for each subject (English-language arts and mathematics).  Newhall also posted the highest percentage of students scoring Proficient or Advanced on the State's fifth grade science test. 

Test Results In: Saugus Pupils Listen, Communicate Well
Because this is a new test on new standards, these scores cannot be compared to previous years' tests. Our strongest performance in Mathematics was in Communicating Reasoning and our strongest performance in Language Arts was for Listening: demonstrating effective communication skills.
