Major Flooding Leaves Residents in Shock
Heavy rains pounded the Elizabeth and Hughes Lake Communities Thursday, causing major mudslides and flooding in an area that had been left sparse after the 2013 Powerhouse Fire.

Elizabeth Lake Road was overrun with mud and debris Thursday, hindering emergency crews that struggled to get to people who are stranded in the area, including some who were trapped in cars.

Crash Victim Was Castaic Jail Deputy

The person killed in a Wednesday-night crash on San Francisquito Canyon Road was a 31-year-old off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy who lived in Lancaster and worked at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic. 

SCV Resident Film Director Faces Multiple Fraud Charges
A film director from Santa Clarita and an insurance agent have been charged in a 72-count complaint for allegedly bilking more than $21 million from people investing in the 2009 movie "Not Forgotten," the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
