d'Autremont Picked to Lead Canyon High

The Hart School District announced the appointment of Jason d'Autremont to the position of Canyon High School Principal at Wednesday's school board meeting.
Los Angeles County supervisors approved funding for a total of four deputies for unincorporated parts of the Santa Clarita Valley over the next two years.

A 26-year-old man was sentenced to six months in county jail today for stealing a vehicle part from the wrecked Porsche Carrera GT in which actor Paul Walker died, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

A Sherman Oaks attorney pleaded "no contest" Wednesday to smuggling $30,000 worth of heroin inside a greeting card he delivered to one his clients incarcerated in the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic in 2012.

Deputies began checking the location for any occupants that may have been injured in the explosion. While checking the location, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Patrol deputies saw what appeared evidence of a possible honey oil (hash oil) lab.



County officials are planning to close Lake Hughes Road in Castaic starting very early Friday morning due to a storm forecast.

 
This year, Kaiser Permanente has announced grants totaling $62,626 to various non-profit organizations in the Santa Clarita Valley including the SCV Boys & Girls Club, Bridge to Home, Carousel Ranch, Child & Family Center, Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, SCV Senior Center, Single Mothers Outreach and SCV Special Olympics. 
 

Aubrey Bekendam from The Master's College was selected to the NAIA All America women's volleyball team as an honorable mention. Ashley Kuhlman also earned a spot on the all-conference team.
