Gov.
Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced Dec. 24 that he has granted 104 pardons.
The ex-cons were pardoned for crimes including: murder for hire
(soliciting a murder), vehicular manslaughter, wife beating, armed
robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, witness tampering, grand theft,
burglary, arson, felony DUI, receipt of stolen property and drug dealing
and/or manufacture of drugs. Very few of the 104 had been convicted

New Old Stuff: Confusion Hill | The
rush to the Placerita Oil Field after its discovery in the 1940s was so
frenzied that wildcatters jumped each others' claims as they punched
wells on parcels of land not much bigger than an oil rig. Patents were
so difficult to sort out that the place was nicknamed Confusion Hill.
It's the oil field off of Sierra Highway between Placerita Canyon Road
