KHTS's Carl Goldman is Santa Clarita Elks' Target for Jan. 24 Roast
Santa Clarita, Calif., Nov. 24, 2008 Is he Man of the Year or Man of the Smear? KHTS AM 1220's Carl Goldman has agreed to be roasted at the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge in Canyon Country on Saturday, January 24, 2009. According to Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar, who will serve as emcee of the event, getting Goldman up on stage to be roasted will give the community the chance to get to know the real man and determine if he is indeed Man of the Year or, more appropriately, Man of the Smear.
Goldman feels he is up to the task. "You can always trust an invitation you receive from Bob Kellar because you know that there will be a catch to it," he said. "Usually the catch involves money, but this time, it involves my reputation. I'm game."
Mike Fisher, Elks Roast Committee chair, said he is thrilled Goldman will be the roastee. "We were pretty desperate. Most people we invited turned down the offer. Carl's calendar was completely open."
Goldman added that "Mayor Kellar pulled a few strings and threatened to reveal I voted for Michael Dukakis in 1988. I either had to agree to be roasted, or I would be forced to kill Bob."
Proceeds from the event will go to Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, Inc. (SDFHC). Last year's roast raised $65,000 for SDFHC, which went directly toward providing patient care.
The cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the roast scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $100 per individual or for varying levels by table. For more information on tables, please contact Mike Fisher at (661) 877-5219.
