Free Consumer Lectures & Services Offered
On Wednesday, April 1, Emily Iland and Victoria Berrey of SCAAN (Santa Clarita Autism Asperger Network) will discuss "What Every Grandparent Should Know about Autism," from 1 to 2 p.m. in Activity Rooms 1 & 2 of the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street.
They will also speak about the Special Needs Registry, an invaluable tool for assisting individuals living in the SCV who are at-risk during emergency situations due to limited communication, age, emotional, behavioral, or cognitive disabilities, or other disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease. Kept at the Sheriff's station, the Registry includes vital information about the person involved.

Wednesday, April 8, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital's Case Manager/MSW Michael Magnusen, discusses "Advance Directives." (Note: An advance directive tells your doctor what kind of care you would want if you become unable to make medical decisions for yourself.)
On Wednesday, April 15, Financial Advisor Joseph Santos discusses "Obamanomics and the U.S. Economy."
On Wednesday, April 22, Providence Holy Cross presents Dr. Amy Goff discussing "Memory and the Aging Brain."
On Wednesday, April 29, Birgit Castleman of the American Red Cross L.A. Chapter discusses "Home Safety and the Phillips Lifeline Medical Alert System."
All lectures are in Activity Rooms 1 & 2 from 1 to 2 p.m.
In addition, the following free health clinics will be offered at the SCV Senior Center:
Free blood pressure checks performed by nurses every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in Day Care Office. After April 15 blood pressure checks return to Activity Rm. 3 (Adult Day Care Room).
Wednesday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. free glucose checks provided by Registered Dietitian Lori Robinson in Day Care Office.
Tuesday, April 21, 10:30 to noon, Audiology Associates provides free audiology screenings in the Day Care Office.
Note: No foot screenings in April
