Ban That Bug!
Flu Season is Coming; So are Flu Shots at the Senior Center
Free flu shots will be administered at the SCV Senior Center on Friday, Nov. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. Provided by Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Health, the shots will be given to individuals who are at high risk for flu. That category includes: People 65 and older; adults with health conditions such as asthma, or other chronic disorders of the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems; pregnant women; and people who required regular medical follow-up or hospitalization during the preceding year due to diabetes, kidney disease, blood disorders, immunosuppression, or other chronic illnesses.
Persons seeking vaccination must show proof of eligilibity such as a driver's license, prescription bottle or bottle of medication related to their chronic condition, or a doctor's note.
Persons who are NOT candidates for the flu shot include those with a history of Guillain-Barre' Syndrome, egg allergy, or having a fever or illness within one week of vaccination date. (Note: If you plan to get the shot a week after being sick, please bring a letter from your doctor OK-ing that injection.)
