The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer the USCG Boating Skills & Seamanship Course to the general public. Instruction will be given at the College of the Canyons, Valencia Campus, commencing on Tuesday evening March 31 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and continuing on successive Tuesday evenings for a total of seven classes.
Subjects covered during this in-the-classroom only course will include many aspects of boat handling and on-the-water safety, as well as compliance with Federal and State laws & regulations. Successful students will receive a certificate. The class will be taught by qualified instructors from USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 43, based here in the Santa Clarita area. The instruction room is located in the NE corner of the Student Center Building, in the Faculty dining area.
Instruction is free, but there will be a $20 charge for the student text. Parking is available in lot #5, below and to the NE of the building, near the corner of Rockwell Canyon Road and Valencia Blvd. Daily parking permits are available for $1 at the vending machine located in the student parking area.
