Unitarian Universalists Assist Sylmar Fire Victims
SANTA CLARITA, CA (21 December 2008) — Due to hard work and determination, the Unitarian Universalists of Santa Clarita Valley (www.uuofscv.org) not only exceeded their goal of collecting 600 coats for the victims of the Sylmar Sayre fire, but also were able to acquire $1,000 for the local Red Cross, for fire relief. The money comes from the Pacific Southwest District of Unitarian Universalist churches (PSWD).
UU of SCV would like to thank the Santa Clarita community, and beyond, for their support in "warming our nearest neighbors" in Sylmar. Furthermore, they are extending an invitation for all to join them as they ceremonially hand over the $1000 check!
The American Red Cross will be sending a representative to church services on Sunday, January 4, 2009. The church will conclude its coat drive on that day. Services are held each Sunday, 10:30 AM, at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market St., in Newhall.
