February Newsletter
Welcome to the February 2009 edition of the monthly e-communication from Valencia High School. We hope you have a great month! Don't forget about the school's website at vferry@hartdistrict.org for the password. Students can email practice test results to their parents so they can be kept informed about their student's progress.
Advanced Placement Testing AP teachers will be distributing information to their students this month regarding how to sign up and pay for AP exams. Each exam costs $86, and students must pay for these by March 3rd in the ASB office.
Student Information Parents, please let the registrar's office know if you have any home numbers, cell numbers, work numbers, or email addresses that have changed. Teachers wishing to contact parents appreciate current, working numbers.
Fine Arts Congratulations to Gregory Carlson (trombone) and Enrique Chavez (tenor saxophone) who both made All State Honor Band. Both students will be performing at the California Band Director Association Convention in February. Way to go, boys!

There are three Categories of volunteers: Category 1 is a volunteer for a single event or for a short term, Category 2 is a volunteer to be a chaperone at an overnight trip and/or volunteer drivers, and Category 3 is a long term or a seasonal volunteer.
Category 1 volunteers must sign in at the school on a new District Volunteer form that is with our receptionist and they must wear in plain sight a volunteer badge that they will receive.
Category 2 and 3 volunteers must complete a packet of forms and submit them to Mr. Luxmore, assistant principal. Once the packet is complete and Mr. Luxmore has signed certain forms in the packet, the packet will be returned to the volunteer applicant. The volunteer applicant must then call 259-0033, extension 339, and schedule a fingerprinting appointment. The volunteer applicant must take their packet of documents with them to that appointment. Once a volunteer applicant has been properly processed and approved, the District will send to the school a volunteer ID badge, which the volunteer must wear the entire time they are volunteering. Any time Category 2 or 3 volunteers report to the school to volunteer their services, those volunteers must sign in at the school on a District Volunteer form that is with our receptionist.
Those wishing to be a volunteer may obtain the packet of documents by accessing the Hart District web site, www.hartdistrict.org
