2008 VIA STAR Program Set to Launch in September
The Valley Industrial Association is launching the new year of the popular VIA Star Student Team Competition. It is time for student teams to come forward from all of our local schools to be teamed with a host business. Each participating business will work closely with a student team and should make themselves available for mentoring and brainstorming. With the help of their business mentors, the teams will design a project, marketing idea, process improvement, or product to serve their host company. We've been treated to some remarkable innovations in the past, so it will be interesting to see what creativity will be brought forward this year.
VIA will announce the winners in early November at a ceremony hosted by the Embassy Suites. The winning team(s) will then make their award-winning presentation at the November VIA luncheon, to show off their productivity to our business community.
The VIA Education Committee appeals to VIA members to please come forward with exciting prizes for our student teams. We hope you'll think of great prizes for these young consultants! How about an "in-kind" donation, or good ol' fashioned money?! We need to dig into our creativity (and our pockets) to recognize the innovations we're sure to see from these teams of students! To volunteer as a host business, to form a student team, and / or to donate prizes, please contact Kathy Norris at the VIA offices at 661-294-8088.
