Cemex officials announced Wednesday they will move forward with plans to mine in Soledad Canyon. Busloads of kids from the Newhall, Saugus, and Sulphur springs school districts, as well as other private schools and home school groups, took a field trip to the theater Wednesday to see The Nutcracker ballet. Community College Week magazine has named College of the Canyons the second-fastest growing community college in America serving 10,000 or more students. Santa Clarita Valley residents hoping to see “The Interview” for its Christmas day premiere won’t have any local options, and perhaps none at all. Television viewers can catch the SCV NewsBreak on SCVTV at the top of every hour from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., repeating the following morning at 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. SCVTV runs on Time Warner Cable Channel 20 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, and streaming on SCVTV.com. |

So, speaking as a private SCV resident and not as a rep of any local media outlet, it comes down to an inept at best local Representative and one ideological busybody Senator from out of state. Sweet. OK, so Cemex expects about $22 million from the sale of the 10K acres in AV. Fine. So how about the city cuts a deal with Cemex directly to buy the SCV land from the company? WTH — already spent $12 million, only lined pockets of lobbyists and others who couldn’t get the job done.
Sounds like more jobs available for the unemployed
