[KHTS, Perry Smith] Los Angeles County Fire Department officials extinguished a brush fire that was reported initially as less than an acre near Pamplico Park in Saugus.

The fire was reported at 2:56 p.m., according to Inspector Scott Miller of the county’s Fire Department. The fire was under control as of 4:05 p.m.

The fire grew to 1.5 acres before it was extinguished, Miller said.

“We have crews working on it,” Miller said, adding that knockdown has not been reported because crews are still working on “mop up.”

The initial fire was reported as one-eighth of an acre in size.

The location of the fire was listed as the 22000 block of Pamplico Drive. There were no injuries reported and no structures were threatened.

Two super scoopers and two helicopters were called out to aid in the fire, according to officials.

A resident of a home on nearby Seco Canyon Road reported to KHTS AM-1220 that her home was being evacuated. That report has not been confirmed by Sheriff’s Station officials, who did say the park was being evacuated.

The fire was moving in 10 mph winds.

Renee Page, you are absolutely right, the signal has become so political and doesnt report on real news unless they want to harp and drag on about an actor losing his life…

Can anyone tell me who to contact to find out if there’s an investigation about now THREE fires in approx the last month in a less than 1/2 radius?? The Signal paper doesn’t believe in investigative journalism so that’s not an option. Thx for this info @scvtv!
