COC Drug Prevention and Colorado Overdose Statistics

September 29, 2014

Hosts: Cary Quashen and Bob Sharits of Action
Guests: Larry Schallert, LCSW, DCSSW College of the Canyons Assistant Director, Student Health & Wellness/Mental Health Program

The latest edition of ACTION Family Counseling’s Families In Action was no less heart wrenching and educational than every other episode. Hosts Cary Quashen and Bob Sharits decided to invite their good friend, and fellow community leader Larry Schallert into the live on-air studio for an exciting afternoon discussing all the latest changes, events and plans for the future at College of the Canyons. Mr. Schallert is the Assistant Director for Student Health and Wellness/Mental Health Program. Cary and Bob chose Larry for a number of reasons besides his passion for student health and the wellbeing of his community and family. Some of those reasons include the latest partnership between College of the Canyons and ACTION Family Counseling, fostered by Larry Schallert himself. After the radio trio went through the amazing new antidrug policies and opportunities being planned at COC, they had to discuss the latest statistics coming from Colorado. The statistics the media won’t cover, and the unfortunate truth is that people and animals of all ages, sizes and creeds are fueling Emergency Rooms statewide from marijuana overdose. With the new marijuana political climate changing almost overnight, everyone, including Cary Quashen and Bob Sharits are keeping a fixed eye on everything Colorado related.
