|
Episode 63 Taped Nov 14, 2014 Televised Jan. 3, 2014 Santa Clarita Valley Americana band The fahr.west Sessions take the spotlight in an all-new edition of SCVTV’s acclaimed “House Blend” live music and interview TV series, hosted by Santa Clarita journalist Stephen K. Peeples and premiering Saturday, Jan. 3, 2014, at 10 p.m. (Pacific). The group features ringleader Tom Lamog, acoustic guitar/vocals; David Fry, acoustic guitar; Arden Acord, fiddle/mandolin; Trout Davis, dobro/harmonica; Mark Davis, cajon/percussion/backing vocals; and Phil Sykes, bass. MIA was singer-songwriter-guitarist Pat Nason, previously committed to a gig with his own band, Pat Nason & The Regular Crew. While The fahr.west Sessions’ repertoire includes a tasty mix of unplugged originals and “California-fied country rock classics,” as the band puts it, on “House Blend,” the outfit plays four Tom Lamog originals. They include “Songbird,” “Homegrown Blues,” “Got Other Plans” and “It’s Not Magic, Just Hard Work.” All come from the band’s first album, also titled “It’s Not Magic, Just Hard Work,” and released in 2013. Here’s SCVTV’s video promo for The fahr.west Sessions’ appearance on “House Blend”: http://scvtv.com/?p=20756 Between songs, Lamog chats with Peeples (who co-produces, books and hosts “House Blend”) about assembling the band of veteran acoustic musicians, and writing, recording and performing the songs on “It’s Not Magic, Just Hard Work.” ©2014 SCVTV |
