|
Former Valencia Viking Steven Manfro has decided to hang up his pads due to re-injuring his shoulder at UCLA spring practice. Here are some highlights from one of the most dynamic players in Foothill league history. Manfro started for two season for the Vikings rushing for 4,219 yards, 1,600 yards receiving and 75 touchdowns. He holds six school records including most rushing yards in a game (420 vs West Ranch, 2010), most rushing yards in a season (2,553 in 2010), highest career yards per rush (10.8) and most receiving touchdowns in a single season (41). Manfro was a key piece to the 2010 Vikings campaign which saw them go 11-2, losing in the CIF SS Semi-Finals to Oaks Christian. The Vikings Football Facebook account posted the following this morning: “Viking great Steven Manfro had to walk away from football after re-injuring his shoulder at UCLA this week. Wishing nothing but the best. In 2 seasons, he rushed for 4,219 yards, had almost 1,600 receiving yards, and scored an amazing 75 TDs.”
