In this Caltrans News Flash, spokesman Philip Havins will “LEED” you to a 1 mega-watt solar farm in Fontana, California, which reduces energy consumption on the local power grid by approximately two-thirds. The Fontana solar facility, which powers a LEED “Gold” certified traffic management center, is the largest in Caltrans. The United States Green Building Council ranks the State of California as the nationwide leader in “green building” and LEED or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.
