The rabid bat count in Santa Clarita continues to rise with a total of seven rabid bats found in the area as of August 31. A Newhall man accused of assault and domestic violence murder is due back in court in December after his case was continued again. The Santa Clarita Sunrise Rotary Club and the Rotary Interact Club at Saugus High School dedicated a peace garden at the school Tuesday afternoon. “Food for Fines” donations go beyond helping library patrons alleviate some of their fines: the donations will go to the nearly 70 clients, including families, that the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry helps each day they’re open.
