Thousands of SCV Residents Walk for the Heart

Santa Clarita residents participated in the third annual Heart Walk at Valencia’s Bridgeport Park Saturday morning to raise awareness about heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

The Heart Walk aims to create a culture of health by engaging community members in physical activity and heart-healthy living, while raising much-needed funds to fight heart disease and stroke.

The event included a non-competitive 5K walk/run and a festival area featuring interactive and fun activities, health information, and entertainment.

The Santa Clarita Heart Walk, led by community chair Jocelyn Reyes, is one of four walks in Los Angeles County. Together, the goal is to raise $1.75 million in support of the American Heart Association’s mission of building healthier lives, free of heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

The events have raised more than $1.2 million to date, with one more Heart Walk to go in Palmdale on Nov. 5.
