COSTUME CONTEST – ASB is holding a Halloween Costume contest on October 31st. To enter, come to room 1002 at Brunch on that day if you are wearing your costume to sign up to be in the contest. We have limited spots available, so be sure to sign up at the beginning of brunch. Contest winners get a prize. Let’s see those awesome costumes! HALLOWEEN DRESS CODE – The school’s dress code policy will be strictly enforced. Therefore, all costumes must be in good taste and appropriate for school. Suggestive, graphic, inappropriate, offensive, or violent costumes will not be permitted. 1.) Costumes should not restrict the student’s ability to participate in instructional activities throughout the school day. This includes the ability to sit, stand, walk, and participate in physical education classes. 2.) Costumes that ridicule or otherwise demean others will not be permitted. This includes costumes that target any particular group or perpetuate negative stereotypes of any kind. 3.) No masks of any kind will be permitted. 4.)Students are not allowed to bring accessories such as, but not limited to, imitation weapons, noisemakers, balloons, live animals, etc. 5.) One person per costume; multiple students may not be in the same costume (i.e., a horse costume that requires a student in the front half and a second student in the back half, etc.) 6.) Items such as hair color, glitter, aerosol sprays, costume make‐up, etc. must remain at home. 7.) Anything not specifically mentioned above, may be included in the school’s dress code. For specific information regarding our dress code, please review page 5 in your student planner. 8.) School officials reserve the right to exercise their discretion regarding the appropriateness of a student’s costume. If we find a student’s costume is a disruption to the learning environment, a guardian will be contacted and the student will be asked to change. Live animals from the Placerita Nature Center will be creeping around our library during lunch time. You may bring and eat your lunch in the library, or enjoy the snacks that we will provide for free. See your 7th grade science teacher for a free ticket. Ticket holders will be admitted first, then all students will be allowed in as space permits. MIX-IT-UP DAY – On Tuesday, October 31st ASB is hosting Mix-It-Up Day at BRUNCH. Your teachers will pass out cards with Halloween creatures on them, and you will have to find a person who has the same card as you do. After you have found a person with the same card, get to know your partner and learn at least three things about each other. Once you have done that, come out to the quad and tell ASB the three things you have learned about each other, then we will give you each a piece of candy for “mixing it up” and meeting new people!
