Sierra Vista Life 11-15-17

JUSTICE LEAGUE – Hey plainsmen since justice league movie night is Friday November 17th we are having a superhero spirit day that day, so be sure to dress in your superhero gear. ASB will come to some classes with candy and superhero key chains.

If you’re a seventh grader that is NOT in a year-long elective, who wants to help others and make our school a better place, who is also hard-working, dependable, honest, and trustworthy…then having ASB as your second semester elective may be for you! To apply, click on the link on the Sierra Vista homepage and complete all of the information in it’s entirety by Wednesday, November 15. Since spots are limited, only a few students per team will be contacted for the second part of the application process. A list of accepted candidates will be made available by Friday, December 1st. Please see Mrs. Terranova in room 1002 if you have any questions. Please note – that if you are already in a year-long elective, then you cannot apply at this time, but you could apply for ASB as your elective for 8th grade in the spring.

Turkey Week is coming, Sierra Vista!! The Amazing Turkey Race is on Tuesday, November 21, during lunch on the P.E. soccer fields. Sign ups are from 11/13/17 to 11/17/17 on the Sierra Vista home page. Participants will compete in a scavenger hunt type of race, that includes eight fun games at each station, and which you must figure out the next clue before you can go to the next station. Participants will be released from their E period class 10 minutes early to change into their PE clothes for the race. The top three teams and the top three individuals with the lowest time win a In-N-Out gift certificate  and ice cream passes (for each participant). Come in and join the fun for our Turkey Week extravaganza!!!

Due to the overwhelming amount of students seeking after school tutoring, the limited amount of peer tutors we have available to support students, and for student safety reason, we can not accommodate any more than 15 students per classroom.  Luckily there are multiple subjects offered on different days each week, so hopefully you are able to find extra help on at least one of the days provided each week.   With that said, we are in need of qualified 8th graders who are willing to tutor after school for 30 min in any subject.  Please contact Mrs. Marsh via email or stop by room 106 to sign up!

Congratulations Trailblazer Students of the Week, Megan Makishima and Andrew Briones. Megan is a wonderful, considerate young lady.  She is an excellent student and a great role model to her peers.  Andrew always comes to class with a positive attitude and a smile on his face.  He is kind and respectful and always willing to help others. It is a pleasure to have them on our team.

Today in clubs and activities we have the Metal Fusion club in room 902, Dance club @ the MPR, Writers club in room 102, and White Lightening practice @ the field.

Decorate your team teacher’s door for the door decorating contest on 11/21. Show your celebrity turkeys and be the team to win $100!

Hey Sierra Vista, we are having a nonperishable food drive this month to benefit the “Help the Children” foundation. The collection starts Monday, November 13, and ends on Tuesday, November 21st. The team that collects the most canned goods per student gets to have a team teacher wear a turkey costume and earns spirit points for their team.
