May 14, The California Senate approved Senate Joint Resolution, SJR 25, (Wilk) declaring the first weekend in June as Batten Disease Awareness Weekend.  Santa Clarita area resident Chris Velona came to Sacramento the day the measure passed and spoke with Senator Wilk about the importance of the resolution. Mr. Velona’s son Sebastian suffers from Batten Disease. This weekend is also Batten Disease Awareness Weekend…the first one in CA.
