Five Minute Foodie | Holiday Recipes: Peppermint Bark

This delicious spread will make the perfect appetizer at any holiday gathering. Ingredients 1 bag semisweet chocolate 2 bags white chocolate 1 package candy canes 1 teaspoon peppermint extract Directions: Crush candy canes to your preference. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, shiny-side up; smooth out any wrinkles. Heat 1 inch of water in a saucepan over low heat until steaming. Put semisweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Set the bowl over the saucepan of steaming water (do not let the bowl touch the water) and stir until the chocolate is melted. Remove the bowl from the saucepan; keep the steaming water over low heat. Spread melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer. Refrigerate until firm. Meanwhile, combine the white chocolate and peppermint extract in a large heatproof bowl and repeat the melting process over the steaming water. Spread an even layer of melted white chocolate over the semisweet. Sprinkle crushed candy canes over the top of the chocolate. Refrigerate until firm. Once the chocolate has completely solidified, remove from baking sheet and break into pieces. Enjoy!
