Magic Mountain Tickets: 8th graders, don’t forget to purchase your Magic Mountain ticket by May 3rd. Students purchasing a ticket will receive a 1 meal voucher to purchase food within the park! You can buy tickets before school to avoid any lines.
Freshmen Meeting: If you enjoy running, please come to our incoming Freshmen Meeting at Canyon’s Library on May 1st at 6:00pm. Summer packets, a summer schedule, fall schedule and Mammoth information will be discussed.
Track & Field: Do you think that you’re faster than the students at Arroyo Seco? Can you jump farther than the kids at Rio Norte? Then this is the event for you! This year’s annual Hart District Track and Field meet with be held on Thursday, May 16th. If you are interested in competing in this fun day at COC, Mr. Drabinski is having an informational meeting on Tuesday during lunch in room 1002. The events that the students can participate in are the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 meter runs, 4 by 100, 4 by 400 meter relay, high jump, long jump and shot put.
Safety Town Camp: If you’re interested in volunteering and earning some community service hours over the summer, you should volunteer for a Safety Town camp. Teens work with teachers and community safety professionals to assist in the teaching of safety and injury prevention skills. You will teach children ages 4 through 6 through song, arts/crafts, role-play, and other activities. More info and the application are available at www.safetytownscv.com.
Out of the Darkness: On Saturday, May 18th, 2019, COC is hosting “Out of the Darkness,” which is a walk to raise awareness for mental health in the SCV. To register, go to the website: www.afsp.org/santaclarita
GO Jazz: At 7pm on Friday, May 3rd, GO Jazz is going “On the Road” to Canyon High School for their Spring Concert! They’ll join the talented Canyon HS Jazz Bands for a great night of jazz. The concert will take place in the beautiful, new, Canyon HS Theater. Tickets are $10 for General Admission, $5 for Seniors, and the students are free! Hope to see you there!
