Old Orchard Elementary School past and current faculty, staff, and students, along with local dignitaries and community members, celebrated the school’s 50th “birthday” on Friday, September 27, 2019, with songs, speeches, and a special time capsule ceremony where each grade level contributed to the capsule.

Many former staff members and two current Newhall School District board members–and former Old Orchard Elementary School parents–reminisced on their days at the school, celebrating the past 50 years and looking forward to the future.

Old Orchard Elementary School was the fourth school in the Newhall School District; the campus was still under construction when the 1969-1970 school year began, but the school’s first students still began the year as Old Orchard students, attending school at the district’s three other schools until the campus officially opened in April 1970.
