Brush Fire in Placerita Canyon Burns Nine Acres

A brush fire broke out in Placerita Canyon on the 21500 block of Deputy Jake Drive on Wednesday, November 6, 2019; the fire was named the Jake Fire.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded to the fire that burned 9 acres in the hillside behind McGrath Elementary School.

SCV Sheriff’s reported on their Twitter that McGrath Elementary School students were evacuated to Newhall Elementary, where their parents or guardians were able to reunite with them.

As of 3:35 p.m., the Sheriff’s reported via Twitter that the fire has stopped and all evacuation notices were lifted.
