In a bold effort to make playing more of a universal language for children, Santa Clarita opened its first inclusive playground at Canyon Country Park.

In front of a crowd of more than a few hundred parents, children and neighbors, the Santa Clarita city council sliced through a bright, red ribbon officially opening the park for enjoyment.

The inclusive playground is designed to be a safe place for children with and without certain abilities to enjoy the outdoors.

It takes away social and physical barriers and replaces them with a sensory-safe experience.

The new playground opened on the week of Canyon Country Park’s 30th birthday.
