SCVTV’s Community Corner: SCV Sheriff’s Capt. Diez on Responding to Mental Health Crises Calls

In this segment of SCVTV’s Community Corner, Captain Justin Diez from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station shares how they respond to calls with people experiencing mental health crises.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has a longstanding tradition of innovating with mental health and policing – like being the first law enforcement agency to collaborate with the Department of Mental Health. Captain Diez speaks upon this collaboration and what sort of services and resources they provide to the SCV community.

More information regarding resources, contact information for the station, information about Zone Leaders, and more can be found at https://lasd.org/santa-clarita-valley/.

Mental health issues can affect anyone at any age but it’s important to know that there’s a support system out there to help everyone live a happy and healthy life all year long.

If you or if someone you know is in emotional distress, may be thinking about suicide, or is worried about a loved one or a friend, please reach out to the Suicide and Crisis Hotline by calling 9-8-8. Additionally, please visit BeTheDifferenceSCV.org for additional resources and support.
