Project Linus members Sharon Garvar and Nicole Clarin give us the details on their upcoming “Make a Blanket Day” and share how they bring these cozy items to SCV families year-round.

Sharon Garvar started the Santa Clarita Valley / Antelope Valley / Sylmar chapter in 2010 when her son received a blanket during his time in the NICU. After witnessing the comforting effects for both her and her son, Garvar started Project Linus at Academy of the Canyons, where she works as an English teacher.

From then on the chapter grew, now serving dozens of nonprofits and countless families most in need of an extra dose of comfort.

Additionally, chapter member Nicole Clarin, along with fellow members and under Garvar’s guidance, are continuing these efforts and providing community events, such as the upcoming “Make a Blanket Day”.

As a current AOC student, Nicole is helping to spread the word about Project Linus’s upcoming events and initiatives.

Their upcoming “Make a Blanket Day” is the perfect time to help them continue their mission.

Make your own blanket, donate materials, and help create comfort with Project Linus members on March 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any and all blanket making experience is welcome.

Plus, you can drop off a blanket between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. if that’s more your speed.
