This week’s episode of SCVTV’s Community Corner is in honor of Veterans Day. We highlight numerous organizations who are making an impact on our local veterans community; tune in to hear from the SCV Veterans Collaborative, COC’s Veterans Resource Center, Quilts of Valor, American Legion Post 507, and Guitars for Vets.

Kicking off this week’s show, host Carrie Lujan introduce’s guest host Ed Masterson, who shares a bit about VIA’s “Connecting to Success” program. We also chat about the significance of Veterans Day and our hosts share what this reflective holiday means to them.

Then, we chat with Donna Kiger, a Volunteer with Quilts of Valor, who shares how these handmade comfortable quilts bring solace to veterans with PTSD.

After, College of the Canyons Veterans Resource Coordinator Adam Wyland discusses the Center’s important work of supporting students who are veterans, and their various programs aimed at helping them reach their academic goals.

Following this, SCV Veterans Collaborative’s Director of Business & Community Relations Dennis Sugasawara and SCV Veterans Collaborative Volunteer Jeff Stabile discuss the Collaborative’s impact on the local veterans community and also share how you can support their initiatives at their upcoming fundraiser.

Then, Guitars for Vets Newhall Chapter Coordinator Bruce Geiger and Instructor & Co-Coordinator Tom Lamog share how the power of music is helping support veterans’ mental health.

Finally, American Legion Post 507 Commander Ron Perez and Past Commander & Presently Adjutant Kris Chase discuss how their programs and activities provide a sense of community for veterans and their families.
