The Transitional Learning Center’s Student-Run Coffee Business ‘The Lucky Cup’ Soft Launches

The Lucky Cup, created by Sarah Caduff, a Career Transition Advisor for the William S. Hart Union High School District, is a student-run on-campus coffee business located at Hart High School.

Every week, these students will take coffee orders from faculty on campus for various tasty hot or cold beverages, and a selection of delicious food items!

The business is a practical learning opportunity for adult students who are part of the Transitional Learning Center (TLC). The project helps prepare and support students by helping them develop workplace skills including money handling, customer service, beverage preparation, and more before they transition into community-based employment in the future.

That’s not all! The teachers overseeing The Lucky Cup, such as Sammy Saba, Adult Special Education Teacher, are helping these students develop more than just hard skills. He explains how many of the students in the adult program gain a new sense of confidence and accomplishment through the coffee business work.

Note: At the time of filming, the business was soft launching, but has now officially launched!
