ABOUT THE ARTIST
Drawing influences from a variety of genres from progressive rock to classical, keyboardist-composer-singer Dennis Atlas of Saugus, Calif., is fast developing a signature style as a writer and performer.
Growing up in a musical household, and a musician himself since the age of 9, Atlas, now 13, has studied formally with music teachers and informally with other young musicians.
A student at Rio Norte Junior High, he is also learning to play trumpet in the school band.
A year ago, Dennis and his older brother Roger, a guitarist and drummer, co-founded the progressive rock group Slow Motion. The four-member band has composed original material, posted videos on YouTube, and appeared on SCVTV's "House Blend" in fall 2010.
At the same time, Dennis continued developing his own solo material. He has posted several videos of solo performances on YouTube, and completed his nine-song debut solo album, "Progressions," in late 2010.
In his first solo TV appearance, Dennis returns to the "House Blend" stage to talk with host Stephen K. Peeples and perform two songs one from the album titled "Integrating Consciousness" (instrumental) and another yet to be recorded, titled "An Image Without You" (vocal).
