Hart District students who rely on public transportation to get to and from school will be receiving a little help this school year.
Family Promise, a local volunteer network, works to provide food, shelter and support for those homeless children and their families.
Students interested in gaining some valuable career experience are encouraged to sign up with the districts ROP Career internship program.

A house fire was reported just after 3 on Monday on Essex Place in Valencia.

Sports:
The weekend started fantastic for 18-year-old Alison Lee of Valencia.
New England’s Shane Vereen, a former Valencia Viking, ran the ball 3 times for 12 yards but did catch a Tom Brady touchdown pass in the Patriot’s 31-22 pre-season win over the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Finally:
Election season in our valley is fast-approaching, and three more candidates added their names to local races last week, just before the deadline on August 9.
