The County of Los Angeles Office of Education has halted two more charter school approvals by the Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District in light of continued concerns about the district’s finances.

Junior high students from across the valley are spending the week making a series of television game shows at the SCVTV Media Center in Newhall.

Parent volunteers in the Newhall School District have raised more than $35,000 to support the districts music program this year.

The SCV Senior Center’s second annual Touch-A-Truck event came to Central Park Saturday and brought dozens of vehicles from the LA County Fire Department, Sheriff’s Department and more.

The 15th annual Valencia Jazz and Blues Festival returned to town center drive Friday night.

Former College of the Canyons shortstop Ivan Vela, drafted last week by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 21st round out of Oklahoma Baptist, has signed his pro contract.

Television viewers can catch the SCV NewsBreak on SCVTV at the top of every hour from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., repeating the following morning at 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.
