COC’s brand new culinary arts facility officially opened Monday on the Valencia Campus.

The controversial Westboro Baptist Church was no match for Santa Clarita community members early Sunday morning as the group toured the city protesting various churches.

In academy awards news, “Whiplash” a film that was shot in part in Newhall and Valencia, took home three oscars Sunday night for Best Sound Mixing, Film Editing and Best Supporting Actor. Cal Arts alumni Don Hall took home an oscar for Best Animated Feature Sunday for the Walt Disney Animated Feature “Big Hero 6”.

Design ideas are under way for a new tennis facility at central park.

The high-energy bluegrass quartet “Hot October” is slated for an intimate show in Old Town Newhall Thursday night.

Television viewers can catch the SCV NewsBreak on SCVTV at the top of every hour from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., repeating the following morning at 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.
