The City of Santa Clarita and community members gathered Sunday at the Newhall Family Theater for the Performing Arts to celebrate the life of Jo Anne Darcy, one of the founders of the City of Santa Clarita. She was heralded as a pivotal member of the City Formation Committee, an inaugural council member, four-time mayor and someone who made many vital contributions to the community. Her official city work was matched by her tremendous philanthropy which included launching the Senior Center, the Domestic Violence Center, the SCV Historical Society and the Newhall Walk of Western Stars – to name just a few.
